What We Do
The South Vancouver Island Potter’s Guild is a member-funded BC Society that fosters a welcoming community for potters of all skill levels. We aim to support and promote the local pottery community by sharing knowledge, encouraging creativity, providing educational opportunities, and engaging the public through exhibitions and other collaborative projects.
Members of the guild meet monthly to conduct business, collaborate and present educational programs by a wide variety of clay artists. The Guild also maintains an extensive library of relevant resources which is available for members to borrow on a monthly basis at each of the meetings.
Our membership includes local potters from Victoria and surrounding area including Sooke to Sidney to the Cowichan Valley; membership ranges from Fine Art graduates to self-taught potters, from novice to professional artists. Annual membership fees are $35.
Meetings generally take place on the second Monday of each month (except July and August, or on statutory holidays) at 7.00 p.m., at Saanich Community Church Hall 4566 W Saanich Rd., Victoria. During the darker winter months, we often convene virtually over Zoom. The guild does not have a permanent location.
The Guild also supports Souper Bowls of Hope, an annual event that helps
raise funds for the Youth Empowerment Society (YES) for youth at risk in the downtown core by providing hundreds of hand-crafted bowls destined for supporters who attend to enjoy soup and entertainment. For more information, see Souper Bowls of Hope.
