Come on out for an adventure in the unpredictability of Raku!
N.B. Open to members only
Dan Krystalowich of Victoria Clay Art is holding 2 one day workshops on Sunday Oct. 22 and Monday Oct 23. It will be held at Kris Jeffrey’s house at 366 Ivor Rd.
Workshops will begin at 10:00am.
Fee is $40.00 per session.
We will be doing Horsehair and Feather firings, and also traditional Raku Glazes. Glazes will be supplied for application on site.
Please bring a variety of bisqued pieces. 5 or 6 minimum. We plan to do at least 5 firings per day, possibly more if time permits.
We will accept up to 12 participants per class, so please be aware of the size of your pieces so we can all put something in for each run. Nothing tooo large!
If there are only 12 participants in total signed up, we will combine the classes and do just the Sunday.
Dan recommends Coleman Raku clay and has 1/2 boxes available for sale at his store. You can also use your own favourite Raku clay.
Bring feathers, horsehair if you can. There will be some hair available.
*** If you wish to do any of your pieces with the Mica Terra Sigillata, it must be applied prior to bisque, and it’s best if fired at a lower than normal bisque temperature, 017. If you would like to try the Mica glazes, I have a variety of colours and am offering them for use at $2.00 per piece, $3.00 for larger pieces. Also I am happy to bisque them for you as I have a big kiln.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
