The science of art.
After exploring ceramics through a mainly artistic lens for a few years, I’ve gradually moved over to the technical side.
Learning about the materials I am using to create art and the chemistry of how they work together has been the most inspiring part of my artistic journey… I now have a clearer path to follow.
Having knowledge of the chemistry of ceramic glazes gives me the freedom to be more creative. It allows me to easily turn my inspirations into physical creations.
I am currently employed full time as a ceramics studio technician where I make glazes and fire kilns all day long. My spare time is spent studying glaze formulas and planning experiments to improve the glazes where I work and in my home studio. I have studied glaze chemistry under Matthew Katz at Alfred University and David Lawson at Kootenay School of the Arts.
